A trio of companies from the US and South Korea are partnering on an IoT construction solution which incorporates 5G and AI.
The companies – Hyundai, SK Telecom, and Trimble – will build a solution enabling construction equipment to be monitored remotely. Safety can be managed in real-time and operations improved with AI.
Hyundai Construction Equipment provides the physical hardware for the solution with equipment such as forklifts and excavators.
Trimble, a US-based company, will provide the necessary software in areas such as navigation and modelling – including the development of technology which uses a drone to gather data such as the measurement of geography.
SK Telecom will provide its knowledge in 5G connectivity to provide reliable management enabling construction to continue without issue. Should defects occur, they can be picked up earlier to minimise downtime.
The integration of AI will improve operational efficiency by providing aid in areas such as planning, measurement, pricing, and building.
By combining the companies’ expertise, the partners hope to deliver an IoT construction solution which ensures that equipment operates longers, reduces costs, and improves efficiency.
